* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following counties, Bandera, Bastrop, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Edwards, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Lee, Llano, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde, Williamson and Wilson. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...There is a potential for life threatening flooding somewhere in the watch area. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Friendship Park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on Granger Lake in the scenic Texas Blackland Prairie. The park features gently rolling hills that transform into a spectacular wildflower display each spring, making it a favorite destination for nature enthusiasts. Positioned approximately 15 miles northeast of Taylor and 40 miles from Austin, the park offers convenient access while maintaining a peaceful, natural setting. The campground provides a group camping area with a covered shelter designed for tent camping. The site includes electric hookups to enhance camping comfort, along with standard amenities like picnic tables, barbecue grills, and fire pits. The group site can accommodate up to 50 people, making it ideal for family reunions, scout troops, or other organized groups. As part of the Granger Lake recreation complex, visitors can enjoy various activities including fishing, wildlife viewing, and bird watching. The park is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District, ensuring well-maintained facilities and professional oversight of the camping area.

Directions

From I-35 take Highway 79 east to Highway 95. Go north to FM 1331, then east on FM 1331 for approximately 7 miles to the entrance of Granger Dam. Turn left and continue across the dam. Turn left on FM 971, go approximately 1.5 miles and turn left into the park.
