About

Cedar Breaks Park is located on the south shore of Georgetown Lake, a reservoir on the north fork of the San Gabriel River completed in 1979. The park sits in classic Texas Hill Country terrain, surrounded by dense cedar and juniper forest. It's operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers 59 reservable campsites, each with electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), water, paved parking pads up to 55 feet, covered picnic tables, and fire rings. The lake is known for excellent fishing, particularly smallmouth bass, along with black bass, white bass, hybrid stripers, crappie, and catfish. A boat ramp is available on-site. The 26-mile San Gabriel River Trail circles the entire lake via the dam, offering rugged hiking and biking through juniper forest, hardwood bottomlands, and prairie grasslands. Hunting by permit is available for dove, waterfowl, rabbit, squirrel, and white-tailed deer. The nearby town of Georgetown is just 4 miles east and provides gas, groceries, and a historic downtown square with shops and restaurants. Austin lies 25 miles to the south.
