About

Fourth of July Camp sits at the junction of FS Road 250 and a historic wooden suspension pack bridge in a remote corner of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. This dispersed camping area offers a handful of primitive sites for visitors seeking solitude and backcountry access in northern Idaho's rugged terrain. The trailhead serves as a launching point for the 23.9-mile Windy Ridge Trail and connects to the Idaho Centennial Trail. Hikers and pack stock users will experience sweeping views into the 1910 Great Burn areas and the historic Lolo Motorway. The wooden suspension pack bridge adds character and utility for those traveling with horses or mules. Facilities are minimal: a vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water and no fee is required. Campers should come prepared for a self-sufficient backcountry experience on rough forest roads.
