About
Fourth Of July Camp is a primitive dispersed camping area situated at the junction of Forest Service Road 250 and a scenic wooden suspension pack bridge in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The site features a few dispersed campsites that serve outdoor enthusiasts seeking access to backcountry trails and wilderness experiences. Visitors traveling from the trailhead can explore the Windy Ridge Trail, which offers breathtaking scenery and views into the historic 1910 Great Burn areas and the Lolo Motorway. The Idaho Centennial Trail also shares portions of the trail system between trails 531 and 634, making this location an important junction for long-distance hikers and pack trains. The suspension pack bridge is one of several historic wooden bridges maintained by the Forest Service in the region. The campground is located approximately 38 miles from Pierce, Idaho, along Forest Service Road 250 (French Mountain Road). Due to its remote location and high elevation, the site is typically accessible only during summer and early fall months when roads are free of snow. No fees are charged for camping, and visitors should come prepared for primitive conditions with no drinking water available on-site.
