AQAMSO WHAT: Air Quality Advisory because of degraded air quality due to wildfire smoke. Air Quality Index is forecast to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. WHERE... Clearwater and Idaho Counties outside of reservation boundar WHEN: Extended until 3:00PM 8/12/2026 IMPACTS: Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Air pollutants can cause breathing difficult for children, the elderly, as well as persons with respiratory problems. Those individuals who are sensitive to increased particulate matter or smoke are encouraged to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity during this advisory. Open burning is prohibited by air quality rule. It is also recommended that all other individuals limit prolonged or strenuous activity outdoors. Flat Creek Camp is a primitive Forest Service campground located in the remote backcountry of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in Clearwater County, Idaho. Situated among the heavily forested mountains of north-central Idaho, this dispersed camping area offers a secluded experience for those seeking solitude away from developed facilities. As an undeveloped site not managed through recreation.gov, Flat Creek Camp provides basic primitive camping with no reservations required. Campers should be prepared for a self-sufficient experience, bringing all necessary supplies including water. Access may require navigating forest roads that can be rough or impassable during certain times of year. The surrounding Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests encompass over 4 million acres of diverse terrain, offering opportunities for fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Nearby areas include the North Fork of the Clearwater River corridor and access to various trailheads for backcountry exploration.
