About

Fort Ridgely State Park Equestrian Campground is a specialized facility for equestrians, featuring 14 campsites designed to accommodate horse trailers. Located near historic Fort Ridgely along the Minnesota River in south-central Minnesota, this campground provides convenient access to 12 miles of horse trails that wind through rolling hills and wooded areas. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and hitching rail or high line for horses. Most sites offer electric hookups for an additional $10 per night. Water access, primitive toilets, and manure bins are available throughout the campground. A unique feature is the availability of box stalls for horses at $5 per night. The campground accommodates one horse trailer or tent per site with a maximum of six people. Beyond horseback riding, visitors can explore the historic fort site, visit the museum to learn about the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, and enjoy the park's other trails. The location offers a blend of historical significance and equestrian recreation in a scenic river valley setting. Riders over 16 require a Minnesota Horse Pass to use DNR-managed horse trails.
