Flandrau State Park near New Ulm offers cabin accommodations along the wooded bluffs of the Cottonwood River. The two heated camper cabins are available year-round and feature rustic 12-by-16-foot interiors with wooden bunkbeds, mattresses, a table, benches, electricity, and heat. Each cabin has a screened porch, an outdoor picnic table, and a fire ring with grate for cooking. Indoor cooking is limited to crockpots and coffeepots. Cabins accommodate up to six guests. The Stone CCC cabin is a historic structure originally built as a Civilian Conservation Corps kitchen shelter in the 1930s. This accessible cabin features a double bed with optional trundle, a decorative non-operational fireplace, and accommodates two guests. It has no insulation or heat and is available seasonally from approximately mid-May through mid-October. Pets are not permitted in any of the cabins. Cabin guests share the semi-modern campground amenities including a seasonal shower building with eight showers and flush toilets operating from May through mid-October. Vault toilets and drinking water are available, along with a seasonal dump station. The park features eight miles of hiking trails, a chlorinated sand-bottom swimming pond, beach, volleyball courts, and playground. The historic park also includes WPA-era stone buildings and once housed a WWII prisoner of war camp.

Directions

From New Ulm, follow Broadway (State Highway 15) to 10th Street South. Proceed west on 10th Street South up the hill to Summit Avenue. Turn left heading south and continue three blocks to the park entrance on the right.
