About

Fort Ridgely State Park Campground occupies a wooded valley in Nicollet County, Minnesota, adjacent to the preserved ruins of Fort Ridgely, a frontier military outpost significant to the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. The campground provides 46 sites across several categories: 22 semi-modern sites, 15 sites with electric hookups, 9 rustic sites, and 3 walk-in sites, plus a group camp. Sites are nestled among mature trees with some positioned along the creek. Facilities include a renovated sanitation building with flush toilets and hot showers, ADA-accessible restrooms, and a seasonal dump station. Each drive-in site comes equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and a tent or RV pad. The park can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet. Drinking water and trash collection are provided throughout the campground. Beyond camping, the park offers 8 miles of hiking trails, 12 miles of horse trails, and a 7-mile paved bike trail connecting to Fairfax. Anglers can fish the stocked pond or designated trout stream. A 9-hole golf course, picnic shelter, playground, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits round out the recreational options. The historic fort site and interpretive displays provide educational context about the area's significant history.
