About

Flandrau State Park Rustic Campground offers a back-to-basics outdoor experience in southern Minnesota, situated on the edge of New Ulm along the Cottonwood River. The campground is positioned away from the main day-use areas, providing a more peaceful setting for campers seeking solitude. With 33 drive-in sites and 3 walk-in sites, the area features vault toilets and a hand pump for water, with shower access available at the beach house facility. The park is known for its unique sand-bottom swimming pond, located just half a mile from the rustic campground. Flandrau offers over 8 miles of trails for hiking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter. The park also features a historic stone CCC cabin and group center facilities. The Cottonwood River runs through the park, adding to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill, following Minnesota state park standards. Reservations are available up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system. A state park vehicle permit is required for entry.
