About

The semi-modern campground at Flandrau State Park provides a comfortable camping experience in New Ulm with 52 total sites, including 34 electric sites offering both 30 and 50 amp service and 18 non-electric sites. The campground is big rig friendly, accommodating RVs up to 66 feet in length, with modern facilities including flush toilets and showers. One wheelchair accessible site is available. The park sits along the Big Cottonwood River in a diverse landscape of wooded river bottoms and oxbow marshes. Campers enjoy easy access to the park's popular chlorinated sand-bottom swimming pond and beach, perfect for summer recreation. Eight miles of trails wind through the park for hiking and bird watching, with over 60 species of birds including warblers and flycatchers. In winter, 6 miles are groomed for cross-country skiing and 2 miles for snowshoeing. Flandrau features historic WPA-era buildings and stone structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The campground provides a balance of natural setting and accessibility, located within New Ulm city limits yet surrounded by wooded slopes. Amenities include fire pits at each site, playground equipment, sand volleyball courts, and equipment rentals for cornhole. The park is open year-round for camping.

Directions

Located in New Ulm on Summit Avenue. From downtown New Ulm, follow Broadway (State Highway 15) to 10th Street South, then proceed west on 10th Street South up the hill to Summit Avenue. Park entrance at 1300 Summit Avenue.
