Traverse Campground
Closed — The campground is currently closed for renovations from July 7, 2025, through the 2026 camping season, with plans to reopen in 2027. The day-use area along the Lake Michigan shoreline remains open, though occasional closures may occur for intersection work.

Winds gusting as high as 40 mph, producing considerable amounts of blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will result in blowing and drifting snow, making travel dangerous and potentially life-threatening. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

This campground is situated in Grand Traverse County in the Interlochen area, approximately 15 miles southwest of Traverse City. The region is characterized by its proximity to Green Lake and Duck Lake, offering access to fishing, boating, and swimming opportunities. The area is known for its natural beauty, with forests of oak, maple, and pine. The nearby Interlochen Center for the Arts hosts concerts and cultural events throughout the year. The region provides access to northern Michigan's outdoor recreation, including proximity to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and the Grand Traverse Bay area. The Interlochen area has been a destination for camping and outdoor recreation since the early 20th century. Visitors to the region can enjoy water-based activities on the clear inland lakes, hiking and biking trails, and fishing for bass, pike, and bluegill. Winter activities in the area include ice fishing and cross-country skiing.
