About

Fir Creek Campground sits at 6,400 feet elevation in the Lowman Ranger District of Boise National Forest, adjacent to the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness and scenic Elk Creek. The campground occupies a high mountain meadow surrounded by Douglas fir and lodgepole pine with views of the Sawtooth Range peaks. Wildlife is abundant; deer, elk, moose, red squirrels, coyote, and lynx inhabit the area, and the sounds of elk, coyote, and wolf often echo through summer and fall nights. The campground is primitive with vault restrooms and picnic tables but no potable water. Campers must bring their own drinking water. There are no fees for camping. Numerous trails in the area support ATV riding, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking. Elk Creek provides stream fishing opportunities. Winter transforms the area into a hub for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, with miles of groomed trails available. The nearby Elk Creek Cabins offer a reservation-based alternative for those seeking shelter.
