Boundary Creek Campground
Closed — Closed for the winter due to snow. Road access typically opens mid-May to mid-June depending on snowmelt. Reservations available June 15-August 15 for 5 sites; remaining sites are first-come, first-served.
About
Boundary Creek Campground is located at 6,280 feet elevation at the edge of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, directly adjacent to the boat launch for the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Salmon River. The campground primarily serves boaters preparing to launch their Middle Fork floats, providing overnight camping before their permitted trips. The site offers 15 campsites situated among lodgepole pine trees, where the air remains crisp and fresh even in summer due to the high elevation. The campground operates on a split reservation system during peak season. From June 15 through August 15, 5 sites can be reserved in advance while 10 sites remain first-come, first-served. Outside of those dates, all 15 sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. A nearby transfer camp provides long-term parking and trail access into the wilderness. Access requires traveling 26 miles on rough, narrow, single-lane dirt roads from Highway 21. The Bear Valley Road (FR 579) and Boundary Creek Road (FR 568) are often closed by snowdrifts until late May or early June, making this a seasonal campground that typically operates from late spring through fall.
Directions
