Dagger Falls Campground
The campground operates seasonally from approximately June 1 through late September or early October. Access is often delayed by snowdrifts until late May or early June. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations.
About
Dagger Falls Campground is a remote, primitive campground situated along the scenic Middle Fork of the Salmon River in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The eight campsites are positioned away from the busy Boundary Creek boat launch area, providing a quieter camping experience. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground has vault toilets available. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Middle Fork region. The namesake Dagger Falls waterfall is a spectacular sight, and the river offers terrific fishing opportunities. Wildlife viewing and day hiking are also popular activities in the area. Access to Dagger Falls requires approximately 40 minutes of driving on a rough, narrow, single-lane dirt road from Highway 21 via Bear Valley Road. The road conditions make the campground unsuitable for trailers over 16 feet. Campers should bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash, as neither potable water nor garbage service is provided.
Directions
From Stanley, ID, go west on Highway 21 for 21 miles to mileposts 109-110. Turn right onto Bear Valley Road for about 9 miles, then turn right onto NF-568 for about 9 miles. Turn right onto Dagger Falls Campground Road; the campground is at the end. Allow approximately 40 minutes for the final dirt road section.
