Dagger Falls Campground

Closed — Closed for the season due to snow. The access road is typically closed by snowdrifts until late May or early June. The campground operates seasonally through September.

About

Dagger Falls Campground provides 8 campsites situated along the Middle Fork of the Salmon River within the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness area. Located away from the popular Boundary Creek boat launch, this campground offers a more peaceful base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The campground is named for the nearby Dagger Falls, a spectacular waterfall on the Middle Fork that attracts photographers and nature enthusiasts. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets but campers should note there is conflicting information about water availability. No garbage service is provided, so visitors must pack out all trash. The fishing in the Middle Fork is excellent, and the area offers opportunities for wildlife viewing and day hiking. Access to Dagger Falls requires commitment. From Highway 21, the turn-off at mile 109-110 leads to 25 miles of rough, narrow, single-lane dirt road known as Bear Valley Road. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and is not recommended for trailers over 16 feet. The road is often closed by snowdrifts until late May or early June, limiting the camping season to summer and early fall months.
