Fielding Lake State Recreation Site is a scenic alpine campground located at 2,973 feet elevation in the Alaska Range, accessible from Mile 200.5 of the Richardson Highway. The campground sits above tree line, where ice sometimes remains on the lake until July. This rustic 605-acre recreation area offers 17 campsites, vault toilets, picnic sites, a boat launch, and a reservable public-use cabin. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities for natural populations of arctic grayling, lake trout, and burbot. The boat launch provides easy access to the water, and the simple beauty of this alpine setting continues to draw visitors year after year. Due to the high elevation and exposed location, the campground typically experiences cooler temperatures and occasional breezes that can help keep mosquitoes at bay. The campground is located 1.5 miles from the Richardson Highway on an access road. While the campground accepts reservations year-round, the access road is not plowed during winter months, requiring visitors to park on the highway and travel the 1.5 miles to the lake. From late spring to late fall, the cabin and campground are accessible by road.
