Eno River State Park offers a true backcountry camping experience in the rolling hills of Durham and Orange counties. The park features 13 primitive campsites spread across two main campgrounds and three group sites, all accessible only by hiking trails through the forested landscape along the Eno River. Fanny's Ford campground sits on a hill near the river, about 1 mile from the Fews Ford access parking area. The five individual sites provide a peaceful retreat surrounded by tall trees. At Cole Mill access, the Piper Creek campground offers additional sites 1.2 miles in along the Bobbitt Hole Trail. Each individual site includes a tent pad, fire ring, lantern hook, and bench. Group camping is available at Cox Mountain (up to 26 people, 3/8 mile hike) and Buckquarter Creek (two sites for up to 15 people each, 1.2 mile hike), both featuring multiple tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings with benches, and pit toilets. All camping at Eno River is primitive backcountry style. There is no potable water at any campsite, so visitors must carry in all water and supplies. Pit toilets serve each campground area. Free firewood is provided when available, but gathering wood is prohibited. The park is popular for hiking, with 30 miles of trails, as well as fishing and canoeing on the Eno River.

Directions

From I-85 exit 173, take Cole Mill Road northwest for 5 miles to reach the park's Fews Ford Access. Alternatively, from I-85 exit 170, take Hwy. 70 west to Pleasant Green Road, turn right, follow for 2.2 miles, then turn left on Cole Mill Road; after 1 mile, you'll arrive at Fews Ford Access.
