There are reports of patchy black ice this morning around Central North Carolina. Temperatures will remain below freezing through mid-morning, keeping some slick spots around through that time. Secondary, less traveled roads, bridges, overpasses, and sidewalks will continue to be be especially susceptible. However, there are reports from the Triangle Area of some slick spots on Interstates and main roads where patches of water running across the road from Sunday's precipitation froze overnight. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces. The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor vehicle or to slip and fall.
