About
Alder Springs Campground is a secluded 3-site primitive camping area in the Malheur National Forest, situated adjacent to a pretty meadow in Harney County. This rustic spot offers true backcountry solitude far from developed recreation areas. The campground operates as a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility with no amenities. There is no potable water, no restrooms, and no trash service. Campers must be completely self-sufficient. The site is particularly popular during hunting season when visitors use it as a remote base camp. Access requires navigating a series of forest roads south of Burns. The campground sits at the end of Forest Road 4341, approximately 37 miles from the junction of US Highway 20 and County Road 127. Road conditions vary seasonally and high-clearance vehicles are recommended.
