About
Ella Narrows Cabin sits tucked back from Ella Lake in a stand of large old-growth spruce, hemlock, and cedar on eastern Revillagigedo Island. The cabin offers limited views of the lake and surrounding mountains, with a stream bubbling nearby. A long stretch of cobble beach and a large white sand beach front the cabin, providing ample space for exploration. The rustic 12x14-foot Pan Abode cabin was constructed in 1966 and sleeps six people with two single bunks and two double bunks. Amenities include a wood stove, cooking counter, table and benches, shelves and cupboard space, splitting maul, broom, and campfire ring. An outhouse is provided. A 14-foot aluminum skiff with oars is available for exploring the lake. Guests must bring all supplies including sleeping bags, cooking gear, food, water (no potable water on site), toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher, life vests for the skiff, and rain gear. Firewood cannot be guaranteed, so bringing your own is recommended. The area offers excellent fishing for cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden, and kokanee salmon, plus hunting opportunities for Sitka black-tailed deer and black bear in designated seasons.
Directions
The cabin is approximately 24 air miles northeast of Ketchikan on Revillagigedo Island at the north end of Ella Lake, in the Misty Fiords National Monument Wilderness. Access is by floatplane only. Helicopter access is prohibited in the Wilderness area. The Ella Lake trail from saltwater does NOT provide cabin access. Refer to USGS maps Ketchikan C-4 and B-4.
