About
Fish Creek Cabin is a secluded 12-by-14-foot pan-abode log cabin constructed in 1978 on Revillagigedo Island in Tongass National Forest. The cabin sits in a densely wooded area at the confluence of Fish Creek and Thorne Arm, approximately 20 air miles west of Ketchikan. A gravel beach appears at low tide in front of the cabin, and a mooring buoy is available on a first-come, first-served basis for guests arriving by boat. The cabin accommodates up to six people with two single bunks and two double bunks. It includes a table with benches, a wood stove for heat, shelves and cupboard space, and an outhouse. Guests must bring their own water or treat creek water before use, as well as firewood or biobricks for the stove. The location offers exceptional fishing opportunities, with Dungeness crab, salmon, halibut, and rockfish available in the saltwater, while Fish Creek supports cutthroat and rainbow trout, steelhead, and Dolly Varden. Two trails are accessible from the cabin: Low Lake Trail leads through wilderness to Big Lake in Misty Fjords National Monument, and Gokachin Lake Trail crosses Fish Creek outlet to reach Star Lake. Wildlife common to the area includes Sitka black-tailed deer, black bears, beavers, martens, mink, seals, and orcas.
