About

Eagle Campground sits at the terminus of the Taylor Highway in one of Alaska's most remote and historically significant locations. The 18-site BLM campground is just a short walk from Fort Egbert National Historic Site, an early 20th-century Army outpost established in 1899 during the Klondike Gold Rush era. The fort's restored buildings and museum offer a glimpse into Alaska's frontier past. The campground provides basic amenities including several vault toilets and 2 elevated tent pads. An accessible restroom is available. Services are extremely limited in this area with no cell coverage, limited fuel availability, and a true wilderness setting. The village of Eagle, one of Alaska's smallest communities, is within walking distance. This location serves as a gateway for exploring the Fortymile Wild and Scenic River system and the surrounding public lands. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing, photography, hiking, and fishing. The remote setting appeals to those seeking solitude and authentic Alaska backcountry experiences.
