Eagle Campground

Closed — Closed for the winter season. The Taylor Highway typically closes in mid-October and reopens in April, making the campground inaccessible to vehicles during winter months.

About

Eagle Campground is a remote Bureau of Land Management campground located at milepost 160 of the Taylor Highway in the historic village of Eagle, Alaska, on the banks of the Yukon River. The campground features 18 sites with several outhouses and includes two elevated tent pads and an accessible toilet, making it one of the more accessible remote campgrounds in Interior Alaska. Campers can explore historic Fort Egbert, which is jointly managed by the BLM and National Park Service, and experience the frontier atmosphere of this small community of 86 residents. The campground is only accessible when the Taylor Highway is open, typically from April through mid-October. During winter months, the highway is closed to vehicle traffic but used by snowmobiles. The Taylor Highway is mostly unpaved gravel road requiring preparation for rough conditions. Eagle Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 10-day stay limit and a modest camping fee. Campers should come prepared with their own supplies as the village of Eagle is remote and has limited services.
