About
Located in the southern section of Jennings State Forest in Clay County, Dunns Farm Camp Zone offers a true backcountry camping experience accessible via the 1.1-mile Dunns Farm Trail. The camp zone features primitive amenities including a fire ring and garbage can, with space for tent camping. Parking is available at the Dunns Farm Trailhead, approximately 30 minutes northwest of Middleburg. The camp zone serves as a base for exploring the forest's extensive trail system, including connections to the 12.8-mile Pioneer Trail. Recreational opportunities include hiking, wildlife viewing, birding, and photography. The forest's diverse ecosystems feature ravines, seepage streams, and spring-fed waterways leading to North Fork Black Creek. Hunting occurs during scheduled seasons, and trail users should wear blaze orange during these periods. Campers must be self-sufficient and pack in all water, as no potable water is available. The forest is open for day use from 1.5 hours before sunrise until 1.5 hours after sunset. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance through the Florida State Forests reservation system.
Directions
From Jacksonville, take I-10 west to exit 343 (US-301 S). Follow US-301 S for 10 miles, then turn left onto County Road 218 and follow for 6 miles. Turn left onto Long Horn Road and follow for 1.5 miles. Turn right at signage for Dunns Farm Trailhead. Hike 1.1 miles on the marked Dunns Farm Trail to reach the camp zone.
