About

Doctor Creek Campground is located at the southern tip of Fish Lake in the Fishlake National Forest at 9,000 feet elevation. The recently renovated campground features 30 campsites, including two group sites that can accommodate up to 150 people each with shelters, tables, and grills. Eleven sites are reservable including two group sites, one double site, and one accessible site, while 19 sites operate as first-come, first-served. All campsites include a family unit and tent pad, with paved roads and parking spurs throughout. The campground sits within the Pando aspen clone, one of the largest living organisms in the world. Aspens provide limited shade in this sagebrush-covered area, with sites on the outer edge offering excellent lake views. A series of ponds known as Coots Slough dot the area just south of the campground. Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake, covering 2,500 acres and famous for its 20-40 pound Mackinaw lake trout. Anglers also target rainbow trout, perch, Kokanee salmon, and splake. The scenic Lakeshore National Recreation Trail extends around the eastern side of the lake, climbing 900 feet in elevation and rewarding hikers with stunning lake views. The 5-mile Pelican Canyon Trail begins nearby at Bowery Creek Campground, leading through meadows and dense forests to the 11,633-foot Fish Lake Hightop. Three private resorts in the Fish Lake Basin offer camping supplies, cabin and boat rentals, marinas, restaurants, and groceries during the summer season.
