About
Doctor Creek Campground occupies a scenic position at 8,848 feet elevation on the southern tip of Fish Lake near Mallard Bay in the Fishlake National Forest. The campground was recently renovated and features paved roads and parking spurs throughout. Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake, covering 2,500 acres and renowned for trophy Mackinaw lake trout weighing 20-40 pounds. Anglers also pursue rainbow trout and splake. The campground contains 30 sites including 29 single-family sites and one double site, plus two group sites that accommodate up to 150 people each. Eleven sites are reservable through Recreation.gov, including one ADA-accessible site, while 19 sites remain first-come-first-served. All sites have picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Flush toilet restrooms are provided, and drinking water is available from faucets throughout the campground during the operating season. A dump station is located at the campground entrance. The area offers excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The Lakeshore National Recreation Trail extends around the eastern side of the lake, and the famous Pando aspen clone is nearby. Three resorts near Fish Lake provide additional services including supplies, restaurants, boat rentals, and laundry facilities during the summer season.
