About
Deer Creek Campground is a heavily wooded campground located at 9,168 feet elevation in Pike National Forest, north of Bailey, Colorado. The campground features 13 first-come, first-served sites nestled among mature conifer trees that provide ample shade throughout the day. Deer Creek and Camp Creek meet and flow alongside the campground, creating a peaceful atmosphere with the constant sound of running water.
The campground provides access to nearby hiking trails and the Deer Creek area, making it an excellent base camp for exploring the southern side of the Mount Evans Wilderness. The wooded setting offers a classic Colorado mountain camping experience with a rustic atmosphere. Sites can accommodate tents and RVs, though no hookups or dump station are available.
Located approximately 25 miles south of Denver via Highway 285, then 9 miles north on Park County Road 43A, the campground requires traveling the final 2 miles on a dirt road. The elevation and mountain location mean weather can change quickly, so visitors should come prepared for variable conditions year-round.
Directions
From Denver, travel US Highway 285 south toward Fairplay for approximately 25 miles to the top of Crow Hill. Turn north onto Park County Road 43A going towards the community of Harris Park.
