About

Crystal Creek Campground sits in the mountains of Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest near Mud Lake, accessed via the scenic Skalkaho Highway. This small, quiet campground offers three first-come, first-served sites at no cost, making it ideal for anglers and those seeking a remote, primitive camping experience. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is available on site, and all trash must be packed out. There is no cell phone coverage in the area. The remote location and limited trailer length recommendation of 16 feet make this campground best suited for tent campers and those with small trailers. Nearby recreation opportunities include fishing in local streams and Mud Lake, day hiking, and wildlife viewing. The Skalkaho Highway itself is a scenic drive through the Sapphire Mountains.

Directions
