About

Bighorn Campground occupies a scenic stretch along Rock Creek in Lolo National Forest, approximately 33 miles south of the Rock Creek Road #102 exit. The setting features mature old-growth Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir forest with direct access to one of Montana's celebrated blue-ribbon trout streams. This is a primitive camping area with minimal development. Sites include picnic tables, but there are no restrooms or potable water available. Campers must be fully self-contained and prepared to pack out all trash. The narrow, rough road leading to the campground makes it unsuitable for trailers, motorhomes, and tow vehicles. Large RVs are strongly discouraged. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Fees are $10 per night during the main season from early May through late September. While technically open year-round, winter access is weather and snow dependent, and amenities are unavailable from October through April.
