About
Crescent Lake Cabin sits at the northwest end of beautiful Crescent Lake in the Kenai Peninsula at approximately 1,450 feet elevation, just below the tree line with scenic mountain views. This rustic log cabin offers bunk space for six people with a maximum occupancy of eight. The cabin is equipped with a counter, table, benches, and a wood stove for heat. A rowboat with oars is available at the cabin for fishing and lake access. Access requires a 6.5-mile hike from the Crescent Creek trailhead, reached via Quartz Creek Road from milepost 45 on Sterling Highway. The cabin can also be accessed by floatplane, mountain bike, horseback, skis, or snowmobile depending on season. The trail is closed to pack stock April 1 through June 30, and motorized vehicles are prohibited May 1 through November 30. Crescent Lake is popular for grayling fishing. The surrounding area offers hunting for moose, black bear, brown bear, and Dall sheep in season. Visitors should be aware of extreme avalanche danger on the Crescent Creek Trail during winter and early spring. Elodea, an invasive aquatic plant, has been found in Crescent Lake; campers should clean, drain, and dry all watercraft and gear to prevent spread.
Directions
From milepost 45 on Sterling Highway, take Quartz Creek Road 3.2 miles to the Crescent Creek trailhead. The cabin is 6.5 miles down the Crescent Creek Trail.
