Cowhide Cove Campground is located on Lake Greeson, a 7,260-acre reservoir on the Little Missouri River in the Ouachita Mountain foothills of southwest Arkansas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this well-equipped campground with 50 sites spread across two loops. Most sites (48) feature electric hookups with 50-amp service and water connections, while two tent-only sites are available for those seeking a more primitive experience. The campground provides modern amenities including flush restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, and a boat ramp for lake access. A swim beach and playground make this a solid option for families. A short nature trail winds through the campground for birding and hiking. Lake Greeson is renowned for its diverse fishery including largemouth, smallmouth, spotted, and striped bass, along with catfish, crappie, walleye, and bluegill. Nearby attractions include Crater of Diamonds State Park (30 miles), where visitors can search for diamonds, as well as the Ouachita National Forest and Hot Springs National Park within a two-hour drive. The Lake Greeson Wildlife Management Area offers hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, quail, and small game.

Directions

From Hot Springs, Arkansas, take Highway 70 west for 41 miles to Kirby. Continue onto Route 27 south for 5 miles to Cowhide Cove Access Road. Turn right on the access road and drive 2 miles to the campground.
