Corral Creek Campground
Open — Winter access is extremely limited due to snow. The site is accessible year-round in theory, but winter visitors must snowmobile approximately 30 miles from Fish Creek Snow Park. Spring melt typically occurs from mid-March to late May, making access difficult during this period. Summer and early fall provide the most reliable access via Hungry Ridge Road.

About
Corral Creek Campground is a primitive stock facility and trailhead located in the heart of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests near Adams Ranger Station. Positioned at approximately 5,150 feet elevation, this site serves as an important access point for equestrians and hikers exploring the Gospel-Hump Wilderness, a 206,053-acre wilderness area known for its dramatic contrasts between the moist, heavily forested northern sections and the dry, sparsely vegetated southern areas. The campground is designed primarily to accommodate stock users with facilities for horses and pack animals. The trail system from Corral Creek leads into the beautiful Gospel-Hump Wilderness, where elevations range from 1,970 feet at the Wind River pack bridge on the Salmon River to 8,940 feet at the summit of Buffalo Hump. The wilderness is part of the Salmon River/Highway 95 Corridor, featuring landscape that varies from the emerald Salmon River pouring through steep canyon walls to sapphire Moore's Lake in the remote backcountry. Wildlife viewing opportunities are excellent in this area, with populations of mountain lions, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and wolves. The region is part of one of the most intact roadless areas in the Lower 48 states. Access to Corral Creek is via Hungry Ridge Road from either Grangeville or Highway 14, though winter access is challenging and typically requires snowmobile travel. The area served as part of the historic Milner Trail dating back to 1862 and has a rich Forest Service administrative history.
