About
Fish Creek Group Use, also known as Eagle's Nest or Girl Scout Camp, is a primitive group campsite located about one mile south of the developed Fish Creek Campground in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Set in a large, flat area beneath tall pines in north central Idaho, the site can accommodate up to 75 people and approximately 5 campers, with extensive space for tent camping and up to 20 vehicles. The horse-friendly campground features two vault toilets, several picnic tables, and rock fire rings. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no potable water, electricity, or sewer hookups available. Campers bringing horses must use certified weed-free hay, and the area can become muddy during heavy rains. Maximum vehicle length is 20 feet. When reserved, the entire loop is exclusively reserved for the group. The nearby Fish Creek Cross Country Trail offers a 7-mile multi-use loop for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts, with scenic views of Gospel Mountain, Pilot Rock, and Buffalo Hump. The site sits in the Salmon River/Highway 95 Corridor, where landscapes vary from the emerald Salmon River cutting through steep canyon walls to the sapphire waters of Moore's Lake in the remote Gospel-Hump Wilderness. Grangeville, the closest town, provides camping supplies and access to additional recreation including whitewater rafting on the Salmon and Snake Rivers.
