About
North Fork Slate Creek Campground sits at the confluence of Slate Creek and its North Fork in the Salmon River corridor of Idaho's Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. This free, primitive campground offers five sites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the surrounding backcountry. The area provides excellent opportunities for hikers and mountain bikers, with numerous loop trails accessible from the campground. Fishing in the creek is also popular. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on site, so campers should bring their own supply. Garbage service is not provided; pack-it-out rules apply. The campground can accommodate small tent trailers, travel trailers, self-contained pickup campers, and motorhomes, though parking is limited to five vehicles. Access is via Forest Road 354, approximately 8 miles east of the community of Slate Creek.
