South Fork Campground sits along Highway 14 at the South Fork of the Clearwater River, approximately 14 miles east of Grangeville in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. This small, rustic campground features 9 sites suitable for both tent camping and RVs, with site #3 accommodating up to 31 feet and site #8 up to 25 feet, while other sites are shorter. The campground is nestled in a forested setting along the river with wildflowers adding seasonal color. The South Fork of the Clearwater River provides excellent fishing opportunities for trout, steelhead, and salmon. The campground's location along Highway 14 makes it a convenient base for exploring the scenic corridor and accessing nearby trails and recreation areas. A volunteer campground host may be present during the operating season to assist visitors. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no garbage services, so campers must bring their own water and remove all trash. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available.

Directions

From the east end of Grangeville, turn south on the Grangeville-Salmon Road and turn left at the drive-in theater toward the small town of Mt. Idaho. Continue on the Mt. Idaho Grade, and junction with State Highway 14 headed toward Elk City. South Fork Campground is located at milepost 14 on Highway 14.
