About

Tucked away amidst rolling hills, Conemaugh Lake Pavilions serves as a day-use recreation area at Conemaugh River Lake, complementing the tranquil rural countryside of southern Indiana County. Only a short drive from Pittsburgh, the facility offers numerous recreational opportunities and historic resources to explore in a serene, park-like setting. The Day Use Area features two reservable pavilions (Livermore and Social Hall), each equipped with electrical outlets, lights, charcoal grills, water spigots, and multiple picnic tables. Both pavilions are ADA accessible and located near flush restrooms. The facility includes an extensive playground suitable for all ages, an outdoor fitness center for those over 13, volleyball and basketball courts, and horseshoe pits. Visitors can explore the Woodchuck Nature Trail, fish along the Conemaugh River and lake, or study Conemaugh Dam from multiple overlooks. Bursting with history, primary sites of interest include traces of the Pennsylvania Main Line Canal and sections of the 1864 and 1907 railroads. The nearby Tunnelview Historic Site (1/4 mile) provides a self-guided historic walk along a restored section of the canal that once connected Philadelphia to Pittsburgh (1834-1854). The 14-mile West Penn Trail runs through the park, offering excellent hiking and biking opportunities. While power boating is prohibited on the lake, electric motor boats and carry-in watercraft are permitted. Lake fishermen can target largemouth bass, panfish, musky, and northern pike, while the outflow below the dam offers walleye, perch, bass species, trout, catfish, and more.
