Bush Recreation Area

Bush Recreation Area is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground nestled in a beautiful valley overlooking Loyalhanna Lake in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The campground offers 44 sites ranging from primitive tent-only areas to RV sites with electric hookups, plus a group camping area. Every site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Campers have access to flush toilets, drinking water, showers, and an RV dump station. Loyalhanna Lake is a popular destination for water recreation with unlimited horsepower boating permitted. Kayak and canoe rentals are available on-site at the Bush Recreation Area. The lake is known for exceptional channel catfish fishing with regular stockings, and hosts multiple bass tournaments annually. Shore fishing opportunities exist for both moving and still waters. The campground is surrounded by the rolling foothills of the Laurel Highlands. The West Penn Trail, offering excellent hiking and biking, is located about 10 minutes away. The Loyalhanna Dam site features interpretive displays and scenic views. Alcoholic beverages and drones are prohibited. Dogs must be leashed (6 feet max) at all times.

From Pittsburgh, take I-376 E for 12.1 miles then continue onto US-22 E. Turn left onto PA-981 N in New Alexandria near the Sheetz gas station. Turn left onto Bush Road, passing Mannitto Golf Course, then turn left into the Bush Recreation Area. Address: 200 Boat Dock Road, New Alexandria, PA 15670.
