About
Bertha Creek Campground is located in the Kenai Mountains of Chugach National Forest, tucked into an open forest beside the confluence of Bertha and Granite creeks. At an elevation of 800 feet and just south of Turnagain Pass, the campground provides a scenic basecamp for exploring this corner of Alaska's second-largest national forest. The campground features 12 sites suitable for tents and small RVs, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, and dumpsters for trash disposal. A 14-day stay limit applies. Bertha Creek makes an excellent base for berry picking, hiking, biking, and gold panning on the unvegetated gravels along the creek. The Johnston Pass Trailhead lies 1.5 miles south, offering access to trails and a paved bike path. Three miles north, Turnagain Pass provides additional hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities.
