About
Clear Lake Campsite is a single rustic camping location in the Rapid River/Manistique Ranger District of Hiawatha National Forest. The 50 ft x 30 ft site sits in an open area on the eastern side of Clear Lake, surrounded by hardwood trees and pines. This pack-in, pack-out campsite can accommodate 2 families and trailers, with a maximum trailer length of 30 feet. The campsite offers a serene forest environment with excellent fishing opportunities. Clear Lake is known for yellow perch, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and occasionally splake. A back-in boat launch is located adjacent to the campsite and serves as a public access point, so campers should expect other users crossing through the site to reach the launch. Swimming, berry picking, and fishing are popular activities, with fishing licenses required for Michigan waters. This is a primitive site with no drinking water, no amenities, and pit toilets. Campers may collect dead and downed firewood from the surrounding area. The site operates under a 14-day stay limit, must be occupied the first night, and cannot be left unattended for more than 24 hours. Horse, bike, and hiking trails are located within minutes of the campsite.
