About
Cimarron Campground is a small, scenic campground located within the Cimarron Recreation Area on the Cimarron National Grassland. The campground features 12 individual campsites nestled among tall cottonwood trees, providing welcome shade on the open prairie. The setting attracts a great variety of birds, making it a prime spot for wildlife viewing and birding enthusiasts. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets, potable drinking water from faucets, and picnic tables at each site. A horse corral is available for equestrians. The nearby Cimarron Fishing Ponds offer fishing opportunities; a Kansas state fishing license is required. The Turkey Trail is also accessible from the recreation area. Campers should be prepared to pay with cash or check, as credit cards are not accepted. Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on the campsite fee. Fire restrictions may be in effect; open fires are only permitted in developed recreation sites. Dogs must be leashed at all times, and discharge of firearms or fireworks is prohibited.
