John Martin Reservoir State Park sits on Colorado's southeastern plains where the Arkansas River was dammed to create the largest body of water in the region. The park offers two distinct campgrounds totaling 213 sites. Lake Hasty Campground, located below the dam, features 109 sites with electrical hookups at 20, 30, and 50 amp service. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides flush restrooms, coin-operated showers and laundry facilities (available April 1 through October 31), potable water spigots, and an RV dump station. Point Campground occupies the north shore of the reservoir with 104 basic sites suited for tent camping. Both campgrounds operate year-round, though winter capacity is reduced: Lake Hasty maintains 51 sites and Point keeps sites 242-279 open during colder months. The camper services building closes from November 1 through March 31. The reservoir draws anglers targeting walleye, wipers, channel catfish, and crappie. The surrounding State Wildlife Area and the Arkansas River corridor below the dam attract significant bird populations, making this a prime birding destination on the Central Flyway. Boating access includes two ramps that close annually November 1 through March 14 for waterfowl protection.

Take US Highway 50 west from Lamar approximately 20 miles to Hasty. Turn south on CR 24 (School Street) and proceed approximately 2 miles to the park entrance.
