About
Cheoah Point Cabin 2 sits on a wooded peninsula jutting into Santeetlah Lake in the Cheoah Ranger District of Nantahala National Forest. The cabin is surrounded by mixed hardwood forest and offers lake views. It contains two rooms: a front room with a full bed frame and a back room with bunk beds. The cabin has ceiling fans and lights but no interior electrical outlets; an exterior outlet is available on the patio. The patio includes a charcoal grill, picnic table, and lantern post. Potable water is available at spigots throughout the campground, and flush toilets with shower facilities are approximately 150 feet from the cabin. The Cheoah Point Recreation Area also features a swim beach and boat ramp on Santeetlah Lake. Santeetlah Lake offers fishing for bass, walleye, trout, crappie, and bream, along with opportunities for power boating, sailing, jet skiing, and water skiing. The Wauchecha Bald Trail begins across from the recreation area and eventually connects to the Appalachian Trail. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a short drive away.
Directions
From Robbinsville, North Carolina, take Highway 129 north for approximately 6 miles. Turn left on SR 1145 (Thunderbird Mountain Road) and continue 1.3 miles to Cheoah Point Campground. The cabin is located within the campground.
