About

Smokemont Campground sits in a picturesque valley along Bradley Fork River, offering 142 campsites in one of only two year-round campgrounds in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. At 2,200 feet elevation, the campground enjoys a moderate climate with mild winters and hot, humid summers, making it accessible in all seasons. The campground features separate loops for different camping styles, with Loop F designated for RVs only and no tents permitted. Sites include tent pads, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings. A flat, grassy area provides space for group activities. The nearby Bradley Fork River offers excellent trout fishing and swimming opportunities in cool mountain waters. Smokemont serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring the park's 800+ miles of hiking trails, from easy nature walks to strenuous mountain treks. The campground is surrounded by the park's renowned biodiversity, with opportunities to spot black bears, white-tailed deer, and countless bird species. Located just 6 miles north of Cherokee, North Carolina, visitors can easily access the Museum of the Cherokee Indian and Oconaluftee Indian Village to learn about the region's cultural heritage. The park preserves over 90 historic structures including log homes, churches, and grist mills that tell the story of Southern Appalachian settlers.
