About
Chaparral Campground is a rustic, non-reservation campground located along the South Fork of the Boise River in the Sawtooth National Forest. The campground offers 7 single sites and 3 double sites, all equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Three vault toilet restrooms serve the campground, though potable water is not available on-site. Campers must bring their own water or access the nearest potable water source located 9 miles east, just outside Baumgartner Campground gates along Forest Road 071. The South Fork of the Boise River provides excellent opportunities for fishing and tubing during warmer months. Hiking and backpacking trails in the surrounding Sawtooth National Forest offer exploration opportunities through diverse terrain. The campground's location approximately 3 miles east of Featherville provides a balance of accessibility and natural seclusion. Campfires must be attended at all times, and pets must remain leashed or contained within campsites. OHVs are permitted in the campground for ingress and egress only. The area is subject to seasonal accessibility depending on snow conditions and weather.
Directions
From Highway 20, travel north on Forest Highway 61 (Pine-Featherville Road) approximately 30 miles to the town of Featherville. From there, travel east on Forest Road 227 approximately 3 miles to Chaparral Campground.
