About

Willow Creek Campground is a small, primitive camping area in Sawtooth National Forest, situated in a forested setting near the South Fork Boise River drainage. The campground underwent renovation in 2021, receiving new vault toilets, site furniture, and an improved layout. With just 6 campsites, the area offers a quiet, uncrowded camping experience for those seeking solitude in the Idaho backcountry. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. A vault toilet is available, but no potable water is provided, so campers must bring their own drinking water. The campground is first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Pets are allowed but must remain leashed. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the Willow Creek Trail (Trail #019), a 10.6-mile route popular with motorized two-wheeled vehicles. The trailhead is located approximately 3/4 mile north at Willow Creek Transfer Camp. The area offers opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing in the surrounding Sawtooth National Forest.

Directions

From Highway 20, travel north on Forest Highway 61 (Pine-Featherville Road) approximately 30 miles to the town of Featherville. From there, travel east on Forest Road 227 approximately 7 miles, then turn on Forest Road #008 and travel north approximately 1/4 mile to Willow Creek Campground.
