About
Nestled in the Hiawatha National Forest, Carp River Campground offers a traditional, back-to-basics camping experience along the Carp Wild and Scenic River. The 20 wooded campsites provide shade from the summer sun and direct access to excellent fishing opportunities for brook, brown, and rainbow trout. Constructed stair sets provide convenient river access for anglers, canoeists, and kayakers. The campground maintains a rustic character with no hookups, relying on vault toilets and hand-pump drinking water stations spaced throughout the grounds. Each site accommodates up to 8 people and includes a picnic table and fire ring. Check-in is at 2:00 PM with checkout at noon, and quiet hours are observed from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Located just eight miles from St. Ignace via Mackinac Trail, the campground provides easy access to local restaurants, museums, and historic sites while maintaining its secluded forest setting. Firewood from outside the area is prohibited to prevent the spread of invasive pests.
