About
Three Lakes Campground offers a peaceful retreat in Hiawatha National Forest, conveniently located just off M-28 near Strongs. The facility is nestled between three pristine lakes: Whitmarsh, Brown, and Walker, providing visitors with excellent opportunities for fishing and paddling. The campground features 10 single-family sites set among a diverse forest of towering red and white pine, white spruce, birch, and sugar maple trees. Anglers will find rainbow trout, perch, catfish, bullhead, pike, and bass in the three lakes. All lakes are restricted to non-motorized boating only, with a carry-down boat ramp available at the picnic area and near some campsites. While there is no designated swimming beach, small sandy areas along the shorelines allow for informal swimming. The Walker Lake Trail begins near the picnic area and provides easy hiking around the perimeter of Walker Lake, covering approximately 1.5 miles. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site, but has no electrical hookups or potable water. A hand pump provides drinking water. Sites accommodate both tents and RVs, making it a popular overnight stop for travelers crossing the Upper Peninsula between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.
