Located just off the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Bay View Campground provides a rustic camping experience along the shores of Lake Superior. The campground features 25 campsites nestled beneath towering red and white pine, oak, maple, and white birch trees, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Miles of sandy beaches stretch along Whitefish Bay, offering opportunities for swimming, beachcombing, and spectacular sunset viewing. The area is rich in natural and maritime history, situated in Lake Superior's famous Whitefish Bay, known for historically preserved shipwrecks and lighthouse stations. The campground serves as a natural corridor for migratory birds, making it an excellent destination for birding and wildlife viewing. Visitors enjoy fishing for trout and salmon, walking the expansive beaches, and listening for the calls of loons across the water. Nearby attractions include Tahquamenon Falls (30 miles away), the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Whitefish Point Lighthouse (39 miles), and Point Iroquois Lighthouse (8 miles). The campground provides a perfect base for exploring the Whitefish Bay National Scenic Byway and experiencing the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula.

Directions

From the intersection of M-28 and Interstate 75, drive west on M-28 for 15.6 miles to Ranger Road. Turn right (north) and drive 6.2 miles to Lake Shore Drive. Turn left (southwest) and drive 1.8 miles to the campground.
