About
Belleplain State Forest Campground sits within 21,000 acres of pine-oak forest in southern New Jersey's Cape May County, part of the Pinelands National Reserve. The campground offers 169 tent and trailer sites distributed across three distinct areas: North Shore (seasonal, closes November 1 through March 31), Meisle (open year-round with winter shower/restroom access), and CCC (the only area with water and electric hookups, sites numbered in the 100s). Each site accommodates up to six people, two vehicles, and three tents, with fire rings and picnic tables standard throughout. Fourteen lean-tos with propane heaters provide a comfortable option for cold-weather camping. Flush toilets, hot showers, and laundry facilities serve all campsites. A trailer sanitary station operates year-round, though the hose is unavailable from November through March. Pet-friendly camping is available at Meisle Field and CCC campgrounds for dogs and cats with proof of rabies vaccination. Lake Nummy anchors the recreation opportunities with lifeguard-supervised swimming from Memorial Day through Labor Day and boat rentals. The forest's extensive trail system supports hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. Hunting is permitted in designated areas during appropriate seasons.
Directions
From Route 550, head south on Route 347 (Belleplain Road) to the forest entrance at 1 Henkinsifkin Road, Woodbine, NJ 08270. The park office is located near Lake Nummy.
