About

Cagle Recreation Area sits on the west fork of the San Jacinto River where it forms Lake Conroe, offering one of the best-equipped campgrounds in Sam Houston National Forest. The campground features two loops with 47 full-service RV sites, each with water, electric, and sewer hookups along with fire rings, tent pads, and lantern posts. Both loops have flush toilets, sinks, and hot showers. The recreation area serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding forest and lake. A developed boat ramp provides access to Lake Conroe for fishing and water sports (swimming is not allowed). The campground connects to 85 miles of OHV, equestrian, and mountain bike trails, plus 129 miles of hiking on the Lone Star Hiking Trail. A picnic area overlooking the lake is available for day use. Alcohol is prohibited throughout the campground. Pets are permitted but must be leashed (6 feet or less) or crated at all times. Each site is limited to one camping unit plus one vehicle, with a maximum of two tents and eight people per site.
