About

Fort Boggy State Park encompasses 1,847 acres of diverse landscapes including woods, fields, meadows, and wetlands in Leon County, Texas. The park centers around the 15-acre Sullivan Lake, which offers fishing for largemouth bass, channel catfish, sunfish, and seasonal rainbow trout. A fishing pier, boat ramp, and kayak rentals are available for visitors to enjoy the no-wake lake. The park features 3.5 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, including the 1.5-mile Lake Trail and the two-mile Nature Trail. Five primitive hike-in campsites accommodate up to eight people each, located within one mile of the trailhead. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post, but no electricity or water. Cabins are also available in the woods for those seeking a more comfortable overnight stay. The park has restrooms and an outdoor shower near the lake. Additional amenities include a 50-person pavilion overlooking the lake, geocaching opportunities, and ranger programs on local nature and history. The park is conveniently located halfway between Houston and Dallas along I-45. Fishing licenses are not required within the park boundaries.
