Lake Livingston State Park provides a refreshing lakeside retreat in the East Texas Pineywoods, just 75 miles north of Houston. The park offers diverse camping accommodations across multiple loops including Piney Shores with lakefront views, and other areas like Red Oak, Yaupon, Pin Oak, and Hercules Club. Campers can choose from full hookup sites with water, sewer, and electric service, sites with electricity only, or tent-only sites in the Briar Loop area where RVs and generators are not permitted. Lake Livingston, one of the largest lakes in Texas, is renowned for its white bass population along with catfish, crappie, bass, and perch. The park features three boat ramps, two fish cleaning stations, a fishing pier, and bank fishing access. Visitors can bring their own watercraft or rent double kayaks through the park. Swimming is available in the lake, and the park offers hiking and mountain biking trails through the pine forest. The park store operates Wednesday through Sunday with seasonal hours, selling souvenirs, snacks, drinks, ice, and camping and fishing supplies. Free ranger programs include guided kayaking and fishing trips, discovery hikes, night hikes, geocaching, and craft workshops. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and reservations are recommended as the park often reaches capacity. Nearby attractions include Big Thicket National Preserve, Sam Houston National Forest, and the city of Livingston with its various recreational facilities.

Directions

From Livingston, Texas, travel one mile south on U.S. Highway 59. Then, head four miles west on FM 1988 and 0.5 miles north on FM 3126 to Park Road 65.
