Lake Livingston State Park

Open

Open year-round daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The park is undergoing improvements through September 2026, causing temporary campsite closures in various areas. A burn ban is in effect: no wood fires are allowed, but cooking with containerized fuels like propane is permitted.

About

Lake Livingston State Park encompasses over 600 acres on the western shore of Lake Livingston, an 83,000-acre reservoir that ranks among the largest lakes in Texas. Located in the Piney Woods about an hour north of Houston, the park provides easy access to excellent fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, and white bass, with three boat ramps and a fishing pier on site. The campground offers several distinct camping areas. Piney Shores loop provides 22 full-hookup sites with lake views at $30/night. Red Oak and Yaupon loops offer additional full-hookup sites at $25/night. Hercules Club and Pin Oak loops have water and electric sites ranging from $18-20/night. Briar Loop serves tent campers only with water-only sites at $14/night where RVs and generators are prohibited. All developed sites include a picnic table, lantern post, and fire ring with grill, with restrooms and showers nearby. Beyond camping, the park features 5.7 miles of hiking trails through pine and hardwood forest, a playground, interpretive center, and a park store/marina offering supplies, ice, and bait. Screened shelters are also available for those wanting a roof overhead, including ADA-accessible options.
