About
Burgess Junction Visitor Center is a Forest Service day-use facility located at the junction of Highway 14 and Forest Road 15 in Bighorn National Forest. Situated at 7,950 feet elevation along the scenic Bighorn Scenic Byway, the visitor center serves as an information and interpretive hub for forest visitors. The facility features interpretive exhibits about the Bighorn National Forest ecosystem and history, a self-guided nature trail, restrooms, and potable water. The center was historically operated by the Forest Service until 2012, briefly reopened in 2019, and is now leased to Sheridan County Travel & Tourism for seasonal operations. Dogs are not permitted inside the building but must be leashed outside. This is not a camping facility. A Forest Service special order explicitly prohibits camping within the fenced perimeter of the visitor center. Visitors seeking camping should explore the numerous established campgrounds located throughout Bighorn National Forest, including nearby Prune Creek Campground and other facilities along the Bighorn Scenic Byway.
Directions
From Dayton, Wyoming, travel approximately 25 miles west on U.S. Highway 14. The visitor center is located at Burgess Junction where Highway 14 meets Forest Road 15.
