About
Bridgeport State Park is a 622-acre camping park with 7,500 feet of freshwater shoreline on Rufus Woods Lake, the Columbia River reservoir created by Chief Joseph Dam. Located in the high desert of eastern Washington, the park features an impressive 18-acre lawn with abundant shade trees, a rarity in this desert terrain, making it ideal for picnicking and family gatherings. The park offers 34 campsites including 14 tent sites and 20 utility sites with partial hookups, plus a group camp accommodating up to 75 people with a kitchen shelter. A sandy beach provides swimming access, while boating and fishing are popular on the lake. The park includes modern restrooms with showers, a dump station, boat launch with dock, and a playground. A paved three-mile bike path connects the park to Chief Joseph Dam. Bird watching is excellent, and interpretive programs are offered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during summer. With 192 annual sunshine days and year-round operations, Bridgeport State Park offers winter camping opportunities in a serene desert setting. The park requires a Washington Discover Pass for vehicle access and features accessible facilities throughout.
